Interns

An LPC intern, or Licensed Professional Counselor Intern, is an individual who has completed a master's degree in counseling and passed the licensing exam but still needs to complete a certain number of supervised hours to become fully licensed. They are not students but are pre-licensed professionals working under the guidance of a board-approved supervisor to gain the necessary clinical experience.

• Completed education and exam: An LPC intern has finished their master's degree in counseling and has passed the required national exam.
• Provisional license: They hold a provisional license, which allows them to practice professionally, but only under the supervision of a fully licensed professional.
• Supervised experience: The primary purpose of an LPC intern is to accumulate a specific number of supervised clinical hours (e.g., 3,000 hours in Texas) to be eligible for full licensure.
• Not a student: They are not graduate students but are early-career professionals working towards full licensure.
